Joe Musiel

Guest Instructor & Choreographer

Joe Musiel was born in Buffalo, NY, and later moved to Indiana, where he received his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology while studying Contemporary Dance at Indiana University. During his time at IU, he worked with various renowned artists and companies, such as Larry Keigwin and Nicole Wolcott, Parsons Dance Company, Eisenhower Dance Ensemble, American Dance Festival, Ballet Chicago, and Deeply Rooted Dance. In 2013, Joe moved to Chicago to accept a second company position dancing with Giordano Dance Chicago, allowing him to learn from artists such as Brock Clawson, Ronnie Koresh, and Autumn Eckman. His other concert dance performing credits include Dance in the Parks, South Chicago Dance Theater, Water Street Dance, and Cerqua Rivera Dance Theater. Joe has also been credited for his appearance as a guest judge on Dance Moms, a featured dancer on HBO's Lovecraft Country, Netflix's Soundtrack, Jeff award-winning West Side Story (Paramount Theater), and a principal dancer with the Lyric Opera of Chicago. In addition to performing on stage, he has also found a knack for choreography. His work has been seen throughout the Chicago area at such events as Thodos Dance Chicago, Dance Works Chicago, Carnival: A Choreographers Ball, College of DuPage Choreography Competition, Alluvion Dance Chicago Showcase, Deeply Rooted Emerging Choreographer Showcase, Inaside Dance Chicago, and Noumenon Dance Ensemble. After 10+ years of teaching at competitive dance studios, he recently changed careers, received his Master of Science in Nursing from DePaul University, and is working as a Neuro Trauma ICU Nurse.
